Disney's JOHN CARTER Poster Is Baffingly Awful

Disney recently dropped the 'Of Mars' part of their movie John Carter of Mars, simply now known as John Carter, but they clearly didn't give their marketing team enough time to be notified about the change as an M curiously appears on the first film's poster. There's clearly no Mars present though or any mention that the film takes place in outer space and in all honesty, you would have a hard time understanding what the significance of this confusing red logo and a shirtless Taylor Kitsch actually means. More work was definitely needed here as it feels more like a men's fragrance ad than anything else. An adaptation of Edgar Rice Burrough's series about a Civil War soldier transported to Mars and who battles aliens, the film is the live action debut of Pixar director Andrew Stanton (Wall-E, Finding Nemo). We have been promised a visual orgy and something quite unlike anything we've seen before but the first chance to wow us with the imagery has been missed. Full poster for John Carter (what a boring title) below; Samantha Morton, Dominic West, Polly Walker, Willem Dafoe, Lynn Collins, Bryan Cranston, Ciaran Hinds, James Purefoy, Thomas Haden Church, Mark Strong and Daryl Sabara supports. Disney will release the movie on March 9, 2012.
