Doctor Strange: 10 Villains Mads Mikkelsen Could Be Playing
9. Yandroth
While most of Doctor Strange’s enemies are demons or occult beings, Yandroth is decidedly something different. Fuelled equally by science and by magic, this alien wants nothing less than the destruction of Earth as a means to gather power. He aims to do so via the Omegatron, a creation of his which would detonate all of Earth’s nuclear weapons.
This scientist supreme could add a grounded take on the mystical world of Doctor Strange. Tying magic into science, as the Thor films have tried to do could definitely make it easier to mesh with the rest of the MCU. Similar to the scientific effects caused by the magical Convergence in The Dark World, something scientifically explainable could be happening with Mikkelsen's apparent reality warping.
This may not exactly line up with how Feige described the character, but Yandroth could easily have been adapted to function within these confines. It’s possible that the subject of his dissent with the Ancient One is his belief in mixing science with magic. This wouldn’t necessarily explain Mikkelsen’s appearance, but it’s still hard to ignore such a compelling thematic character who could simply have been given some aesthetic changes.
