Doctor Strange: 10 Villains Mads Mikkelsen Could Be Playing

Once a hero from another Earthe, D’Spayre was captured and corrupted by the fearsome Dweller-In-Darkness. Transformed into his agent, D’Spayre acts out the will of this terrifying demon master on Earth.

D’Spayre’s power set would certainly make him a worthwhile inclusion in the film. A master of fear, he casts illusions and draws powers from the fears of others, perhaps suggesting that the occurrences in the trailer are just imagined. 

He’s unlike anything the MCU has produced and represents a more abstract threat that the mysticism of this film has promised to tackle. Doctor Strange fighting an evil sorcerer is a little obvious, but combatting a fear entity that serves an all-powerful demon would be a welcome storyline.

More than anything, D’Spayre works with what we know of Mikkelsen’s character. He represents a corporeal antagonist that serves a higher power, as many have suggested the villain will do. Although not an outright host to this being, he could also easily be trying to conjure him in the trailer. Mikkelsen can certainly be a creepy guy if he wants to be, so a physical manifestation of fear could be the perfect fit for him.
