Doctor Strange 2 is now moving forward, with a possible release date of May, 2021 being slated for the MCU sequel.

While a sequel to Doctor Strange has always seemed likely - Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige himself has always been positive one would happen eventually - there's been curiously little said about it since its release two years ago. A new report from The Hollywood Reporter says that things are now officially a go with the project, although it's still a couple of years away.

As per their report, Scott Derrickson will be returning to direct, while stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong will be back too. It's also expected that Rachel McAdams will be reprising her role as Christine Palmer too.

THR states that next year will be spent getting the script right, with an aim to go into production in early-2020. The movie would then be released in May the year after, and Marvel do already have a vacant release date staked out: May 7, 2021, which is when we can tentatively pencil in Doctor Strange 2 for release.

Before then, there's just the little matter of bringing the character back after he was a victim of The Decimation, something Avengers: Endgame - named after Doctor Strange's plan - will need to achieve.
