Doctor Strange: 25 WTF Moments
18. Strange's Skepticism Is Stupid
A real world character being dropped into a universe of weird mysticism and supernatural power entities would inevitably cause that character to doubt what they were being told about or being shown. It stands to reason, because a normal human brain wouldn't have any frame of reference for such things.
But Doctor Strange lives in New York in 2016 (apparently), a city which has been ravaged by invading aliens led by a magic sceptre-wielding space sorceror with shape-shifting powers, who was stopped by his Norse God half-brother, a thawed super-soldier and a Hulk. This is the same New York that now has a magical robo-Jesus and a real life witch living in it, who have been all over the news. SO WHY THE HELL IS HE SKEPTICAL AT ALL?!
And not only that, but Strange is literally enticed to go to Kamar-Taj by Jonathan Pangborn, who tells him point blank that the injury Strange himself said was a lost cause was healed using Eastern spiritual medicine. So why when he gets there and is told that's exactly what could heal him does he scoff and act like a belligerent, skeptical moron? He was literally JUST wowed by the evidence.
