Doctor Strange: 7 MCU Connections You Might Have Missed

3. Is Strange Monitoring Thanos?

Both of Doctor Strange's post-credit scenes are incredibly interesting, for vastly different reasons. Still, no matter how much material the second one gave us to digest, it's the first that will inevitably draw the most attention due to its rather blatant, in-your-face connection to the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

But the devil's in the detail, and those who possess a sharper, more attentive ear may have found one line in this scene of particular note. Before Thor is revealed, refillable beer cup in hand, the camera focuses on Strange, who mentions that he's keeping an eye on dangerous people and beings from other dimensions and planets.

The Doctor then goes on to discuss Loki's whereabouts, without divulging exactly who these beings are, besides Thor and his estranged brother. But given how Thor is a friend to Earth and Loki has posed no threat since the events of The Avengers, isn't it likely that Strange is also referencing someone else? Thanos, or the Guardians, perhaps?

We know that Strange is aware of the Infinity Stones (thanks to Wong's brief explanation) and he even owns one - the Time Stone - himself, so him being made aware of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, either by way of a dream, vision or trip to another reality, is incredibly likely.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
