Doctor Strange: 9 Reasons It's The Weirdest Marvel Movie Ever

3. Strange Wins With Wit, Not A Punch-Up

Superhero films end in a punch-up. Whether it's a huge CGI battle in the sky, or the hero and villain duking it out (or a combination of the two), there's generally no way out without a good scrap.

Marvel themselves were aware of how tired the battle in the sky trope was getting, so mixed it up with Ant-Man and Civil War, both utilising different fight sequences. Strange, however, takes things a few steps further, and raises his hand for an entirely different reason to punching.

When he finally comes face-to-face with Dormammu, he doesn't try and take him on in a physical fight. Instead, he uses his smarts and everything he has learned over the course of the movie to out-wit the creature. In Marvel's version of Groundhog Day, he keeps on repeating the same bit over and over again, eventually wearing the villain down to the point he can't take any longer.

Strange gets killed multiple times, but he's stuck the pair in a time loop, intent on coming to an agreement with Dormammu. He wins the day and saves the world, not with his fists but with his wit. And the sequence, needless to say, is brilliant.
