Though Wanda's abject obliteration of the Illuminati is both horrifying and awesome to watch, there is one of the deaths that falls a little flat, and that's the demise of Captain Marvel (played in this universe by Lashana Lynch's Maria Rambeau).

Captain Marvel is killed when Wanda knocks over a large statue which falls on top of her, crushing her to death. Considering how immensely powerful Captain Marvel is, though, it's tough to believe that a mere stone statue, no matter how heavy, would give her much trouble at all.

One possible answer is that Wanda managed to dampen Maria's powers during the battle. Shortly before she knocks the statue over, she does attack Maria with a massive explosion which may have, at least temporarily, debilitated her abilities.

As the statue falls over on Maria we do see her lift up her arms defensively, as though expecting to activate her powers, yet nothing happens and she doesn't glow.

It may simply be that Wanda, at the height of her powers, was able to sufficiently drain or negate Maria's.
