6. Sam Raimi Is Directing After Scott Derrickson Left Over "Creative Differences"
Marvel Studios has produced hit after hit, but they've certainly run into a lot of "creative differences" with filmmakers over the years. Edgar Wright left Ant-Man after they wanted to add references to the wider MCU, for example, while Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor has refused to ever work with them again after their collaboration on the sequel.
After dropping a number of hints on social media, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Mandess director Scott Derrickson took to Twitter to announce, "Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as [Executive Producer]."
That points to an amicable split, but Stan Lee was credited as an Executive Producer on all Marvel movie up until his death despite having zero involvement in them beyond the odd cameo. It's an often meaningless title, and not one that points to Derrickson having any real sort of involvement here.
Now, Sam Raimi of Evil Dead and Spider-Man fame is in charge of the movie, and it already sounds like he's bringing a lot of very exciting ideas to the table...
