During the reception, the octopus-like creature Gargantos begins wreaking havoc in the nearby area, chasing down America Chavez and forcing Strange to give a helping hand.

Comic book fans noted from the trailers that Gargantos was very clearly based on Shuma-Gorath, a near-identical looking cosmic creature from the Doctor Strange comics who was first introduced all the way back in 1973.

But because the name Shuma-Gorath belongs to the video game company Heroic Signatures, Marvel Studios had to give the entity a new game, and so Gargantos was born.

Though the battle against the creature is pretty fun, many fans were disappointed to see such an awesome and unique-looking MCU villain defeated within a matter of minutes in the film's first act.

It does get a pretty gnarly death, though, with Strange using a pair of magic-hands to rip a nearby lamppost out of the ground and stab it through Gargantos' eye, and then proceding to rip the giant eyeball out.
