Due to the nature of a character such as Doctor Strange, there are certain elements of his story that not only must be adhered to but are too important to ignore. Doctor Strange will not be as wholesomely feel-good as Ant Man. This is a hero who deals with demons, ghosts and the devil. As in ruler of a dimension in which the damned suffer through eternal torment and get consistently poked with sharp things devil. Doctor Strange is a complicated character whose job is to dabble in darkness. In order to reciprocate this tone, Marvel Studios have enlisted Scott Derickson to direct the film, a man who is more than comfortable in the realm of the supernatural. Derickson is best known for horror films such as Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose and it is this experience that makes him a great choice as director of Doctor Strange. Derickson will be breathing life into a script that was initially conceived by Thomas Dean Donelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Conan the Barbarian) and subsequently revised by Jon Spaiths (Prometheus). That means that there will be (hopefully loin-cloth covered) action and zany sci-fi (as magic is simply science that we do not understand, duh), brought to life by the guy who made you squirm in Sinister. But remember, its for the kids!
