Doctor Strange: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
3. Karl Mordo
Chiwetel Ejiofor is a hugely talented actor, and the opportunity to see him sparring with both Cumberbatch and Mikkelsen is great fun: he adds instant charisma and credence to the entire project and while he's a sidekick, he's on a fast-track to being a lot more.
Mordo is actually probably the most morally intriguing and complex character in the entire film: he has a defined arc taking him from loyal subject to cynical antagonist and his eventual destination as the anti-Sorceror is far more interesting than just having him be another scheming megalomaniac.
It's great that we get to see more of Mordo, because he wasn't at all fully realised here: it's almost like the film was his origin as much as Strange's, but the handicapping between the two was very obvious. Hopefully, when he's elevated to the main villain of forthcoming films he'll be even more compelling.
