Doctor Strange: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

Doctor Strange Characters
Marvel Studios

Putting aside all of the pre-release concerns over white-washing, you already know what you're getting with an actor of Tilda Swinton's calibre and she absolutely does the material justice in Doctor Strange. She blends the regal mysticism of Morpheus with a quasi-messianic edge and even elements of Bill from Kill Bill and carries herself with an almost otherworldly detachment that is perfectly suited to the character.

She also withholds something, so you fully believe the veiled suggestion that she's duplicitous that parallels Mordo's arc, and she's far from a morally clear character entirely.

In terms of the characterisation, she's a little bit of a cliche, in terms of being the Teacher to the Chosen One, but it's a necessary mechanic and we at least get to see her in open combat a couple of times and using her mind-bending powers. Those Inception like universe warping spells in particular are jaw-dropping.
