1. Heavyweights: The Revenge of Tony Perkis
The Pitch: Almost 20 years after their fateful Summer at Camp Hope, the boys of the Chipmunk Bunk are back! Gerry, Josh, and the rest of the gang show up to the 20th anniversary reunion of their class of misfits. As they celebrate and catch up with each others lives, a surprise visitor drops in for a visit. None other than their former tormentor Tony Perkis (Stiller) shows up, and once again the cameras are following him. This time though, it's for his new reality show "Rebuilding Tony". Turns out it's been a long, hard road for Tony over the past 20 years, and as such he's been taking it one day at a time. He's been forgiving his enemies, finding religion, and calming his center... or has he? Unbeknownst to even the camera crews, Tony has been putting together a plan that'll humiliate the Chipmunk Bunk once and for all.
Why We Want It: I might be alone in this, but growing up as a fat kid I loved the movie Heavyweights. It helped me laugh at the fact that I was bigger than other kids, and it really helped that the movie was actually funny enough without stooping
too low with the fat jokes. Looking back on the experience, it's easy to see Judd Apatow honing his craft at creating comedy that laughs at what makes us self conscious. A second Heavyweights would be a great idea, simply because it's Stiller and Apatow revisiting the golden period of their Ben Stiller Show days. What's more, Disney's rides the nostalgia wave pretty high, and this is a perfect throwback for all of the 80's/90's kids who grew up with the exploits of Camp Hope.
Cameo Possibilities: Vince Vaughn is the Producer of "Rebuilding Tony", with Will Ferrell playing the aged up version of Lars, the guard from the original. Vaughn's character grew up as a fat kid, while Ferrell's Lars has let himself go out of guilt for playing accomplice to Tony's crazy scheme. By the end, both help Camp Hope's graduates stand up to the skinny wiener that has come to menace them once more.
What say you, WhatCulture republic? Do any of these possibilities tickle your fancy? Are there any sequels you want to propose yourselves? Did you begin to say "I wish Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau made a sequel to Swingers," but stopped short after remembering the disaster that was "Made"?
