Warner Bros are so confident of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows performing well in two months time that they've already started to spend money on a third adventure. The Hollywood Reporter says Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce has been hired to scribe the super sleuth's third case. Presumably the hiring comes from the direct recommendation of star Robert Downey Jr who along with director Shane Black have been colloborating on the third Iron Man story that films next year. Pearce is best known for being creator of the Brit tv superhero satire 'No Heroics'. The hiring mirrors that of Sherlock Holmes 2 writers Michele and Kieran Mulroney before the first movie opened in 2009. Although not stated you can probably expect WB are aiming for a December 2014 release on Sherlock Holmes 3 that will almost certainly see Downey Jr (as Sherlock) and Jude Law (as Dr. Watson) reprise their iconic roles. Guy Ritchie will probably be back to direct what would then be a trilogy. And as we didn't have time to post it this week, here's the trailer for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Doesn't it move by so fast and zippy... but at least it confirms that Rachel McAdams is back. Watch for it on Dec 16th; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td2Zjdjqhhs
