Enola Holmes Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

7. Millie Bobby Brown's Charming Performance
Without a doubt the reason to watch Enola Holmes is the fantastic performance from Millie Bobby Brown in the lead role.
A far cry from the simmering intensity of her star-making work in Stranger Things, here Brown plays Enola as effervescent, witty, and extremely likeable.
She's a charming presence every second she's on-screen, bringing not only the expected intelligence and moxie but also the inner-vulnerability of a young woman trying to place her stamp on an uncaring, male-dominated world.
It's a far more refined performance than you'd probably expect to see in a card-carrying slice of pulp fiction, and proves beyond any doubt that she's eminently capable of carrying a major motion picture.
If Enola Holmes does indeed lead to a franchise - fingers crossed! - it will be almost entirely a result of her force-of-nature turn in the title part.
