Escape From New York Remake: 10 Actors Who Should Play Snake Plissken

7. Christian Bale

In Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, Christian Bale played a crime fighter whose methods bordered on vigilantism, effectively ending the character’s association with Adam West and bringing him firmly into the 21st century.

In Terminator Salvation, he played a stoic resistance leader in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and the film’s desaturated look and lack of humour went some way to making up for Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines.

In short, if you’re searching for someone to play a grim, gritty antihero in an urban hell landscape, then Bale needs to be on your wish list. He has the attitude down cold and boy can he growl like he means it.

The only thing holding him back is that unlike Batman or John Connor, Snake Plissken really doesn’t give a damn. He was in the Special Forces once, but that was long ago and now he’s content to get by robbing the Federal Reserve in Denver. This is no super hero, more a burn-out who’ll take the money and run.
