8. The Cast Wasn't Nearly As Diverse

Now this may come as a shock to younger readers, but the comic book written and drawn by a straight white guy from the 70s was not what one would call a bastion of diversity.

Which isn't to say that the ENTIRE cast was lily white hippies in spandex. The team had one member for a while who was a purple horned guy. So there's that.

As you can also surmise from the movie, Ikaris was the main character of the Eternals comics, and is the least changed appearance wise from page to screen, besides the difference in hair color - obviously.

Sersi was around from the beginning but it took a while, and a few different writers, to get to the powerhouse we see her as in the movie.

And then there's Sprite, who started off as a boy, but still had the appearance and demeanor of a child as we saw in the film. But if you thought Chloe Zhao was the first one to look at that setup and go "hang on, that's kinda deeply messed up" then have I got a bridge to sell you...
