Eternals: Every Character Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Ikaris
There's no denying that Ikaris is basically the MCU's version of Superman, a fact the film itself attempts to lampshade by making a joke about it.
Richard Madden certainly does a solid job bringing gravitas to the most conflicted of the Eternals, torn between his loyalty to Arishem and to his fellow heroes, even if Ikaris as a whole is a bit of a thin sketch.
It doesn't help that his romance with Sersi is an interminable, chemistry-devoid bore throughout, nor the extremely on-the-nose comparisons to the myth of Icarus, which of course culminates with his sledgehammer-subtle demise by suicidally flying into the sun.
As depictions of Evil Superman go this was fine, but Ikaris doesn't really have much personality of his own, so there's only so much Madden can do with him.
