Eternals Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

The MCU's first Rotten movie is an ambitious disappointment.

The third of four MCU movies due to release this year is finally here: the massively anticipated Eternals.

With recent Best Director Oscar winner ChloƩ Zhao at the helm and buzz suggesting it could pull a Black Panther to become the second Best Picture-nominated MCU movie, it's absolutely shocking that Eternals is the franchise's first Rotten movie on Rotten Tomatoes.

Currently wavering around the 50% mark - about 40% below what most surely expected - Eternals undeniably falls far short of the lofty expectations from fans and critics alike.

That's not to say this is a terrible or worthless film, but that given the cast and crew involved it totally misses the expected mark.

For a movie touted as the next big step forward for the MCU, it's a bafflingly messy, often boring piece of work that doesn't really convince on a conceptual level.

It's still sure to please many MCU fans enough to get a passing grade, but audiences equally couldn't be blamed for feeling utterly fatigued and exhausted by what it has to offer.

And so firstly, here's what Eternals just doesn't get right...
