Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
1. Dan Stevens Steals The Show
Without question the most entertaining thing about this movie is Dan Stevens, who plays the hilariously over-the-top Russian Eurovision entrant Alexander Lemtov.
Stevens, who has a knack for being the best thing in mediocre studio comedies, brings a level of charm and charisma to the film that nobody else does.
Though his character is effectively a campy caricature of a closeted gay man, Stevens is clearly having a blast, and his enthusiasm transpires through to the viewer.
In a movie that so often struggles to rouse more than a pity-laugh, Stevens is a major injection of adrenaline, enough that it's a shame he isn't in the movie a lot more. But every second he's on screen, the film becomes infinitely more watchable.
