Every 2016 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best

Officer Downe will be a hugely divisive film, and that's probably the point of its very existence. It comes in the same sort of intentionally over-the-top vein as Kung Fury - an attempt at a balls-out genre pastiche that provokes you into a reaction. It's weird, it's hyper-violent and it's silly, but that's everything it wants to be.

The only issue is that it's not quite as assured as Kung Fury. It's directed by Slipknot's M Shawn Crahan (better known as Clown), and it very much seems to draw on the spectacle of the band's live shows. It is consciously repugnant, consciously provocative and never knowingly under-played. But sadly without some substance beneath the vulgarity, it's a little soulless.

It has its moments, absolutely, but the overall isn't quite the sum of its parts.
