Every 2016 Disney Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Zootopia
Rotten Tomatoes: 98%
Some have hailed it as a great film with a kid-friendly message about social justice, others have interpreted it as a subversive allegory for the crack epidemic of 1980s America but whatever your take on Zootopia, one thing is for certain: it’s officially Disney’s most beloved film of 2016. Sitting somewhere between buddy cop movie and social parody, the movie is set in a city (the titular Zootopia) in which anthropomorphic animals – both predator and prey – have learned to live in harmony together. At least, that is, until a series of predator disappearances reveal hidden prejudices and the mismatched rookie rabbit cop Judy and con artist fox Nick team up together to solve the mystery.
It’s got all the elements of a typical Disney movie: cute talking animals, beautiful animation, a positive message for young moviegoers and the like. But where Zootopia differs from standard Disney fare is that it’s far more overtly political, crammed with clever references to police profiling and workplace discrimination – a Disney film that’s far more enjoyable for adult audiences but equally important viewing for young minds too.
