Every 2016 Disney Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rotten Tomatoes: 85%

The much-anticipated Stars Wars spin-off Rogue One hit cinemas in mid-December to a tidal wave of rave reviews. The eighth instalment in the Star Wars franchise, but its fourth chronologically (well, at least until the solo Han Solo movie comes out), Rogue One smashed the box office becoming the seventh highest grossing film of 2016 despite its late in the year release and currently ranks as the franchise’s fourth highest grossing movie.

By introducing a whole new cast of characters headed by another great female Star Wars protagonist, rebel leader Jyn Erso, and including some familiar faces – let’s just say a certain heavy-breathing villain makes an appearance – Rogue One managed to stay true to the Star Wars universe while crafting a narrative all of its own. It wasn’t without its flaws of course and a lot of fans took issue with the CGI reincarnation of Peter Cushing’s Grand Moff Tarkin and Carrie Fisher’s young Princess Leia, but overall it’s a brilliant and beautiful addition to the Star Wars legacy.
