Every 2017 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best
3. Thor: Ragnarok
After The Dark World threatened to convince that Thor should be limited to Avengers ensemble appearances (that's how dull it was), Marvel's persistence with their previously most strange brand (we've come a long way since) paid off massively in their last film of the year.
The best thing Marvel did for Thor: Ragnarok wasn't using the seminal comics of Planet Hulk, Ragnarok and the Surtur Saga or teaming Thor up with his new Revengers team - it was hiring comedy director Taika Waititi. He might not have had experience with action (which actually showed a little), but Waititi's experience made Ragnarok the funniest MCU movie to date and one of the most richly rewarding.
He inspired stunning performances from Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in particular, introduced a great villain in Cate Blanchett's Hela and two of the most entertaining MCU characters in Jeff Goldblum's The Grandmaster and Waititi's own Korg. It's also one of those films that will definitely appreciate with more viewings.
