Every 2017 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best

4. Spider-Man: Homecoming

2017 Comic Book Movies
Sony Pictures

After years slumming it with Sony, Spider-Man finally came home to Marvel this year in a deal that many thought impossible for a long time. And when it happened, the hype for the film that was produced of that marriage was dialled up to ridiculous levels.

Thankfully, Marvel Studios know how to make films and their high-school focused, John Hughes-inspired take is not only one of the best Spider-Man movies, but also one of the best character debuts (in a stand-alone - he obviously already appeared in Civil War) in the entire MCU.

Thankfully, the film didn't go too heavy on Robert Downey Jr as Spidey's mentor, and there was no agenda to rush through the school years to get Peter Parker to the Daily Bugle as both the other series had before. The best thing - aside from the performances of Tom Holland and Michael Keaton - is that there's masses of promise for more sequels, provided Sony allow Marvel to make more than Homecoming's direct follow-up and don't steal all the good villains for their own film series.
