1. Avengers: Infinity War

Though Into The Spider-Verse pushed it hard right at the end of the year, nothing can really dethrone The Russos' sprawling, devastating epic Infinity War.

This is absolutely the directors' tour-de-force after two other MCU movies that have increased in quality (even though The Winter Soldier started out incredibly well as their series debut). It was both the perfect escalation for the end of Phase 3 and also a stunning spectacle in its own right, introducing the MCU's best villain, delivering on the huge stakes and packing in incredible story and character moments.

The ending was about the most profoundly affecting moment in any comic book movie ever and no matter how much is set to be undone, the spectacle and the feelings inspired will never be washed out of memory.
