Every 2018 Comic Book Movie Ranked Worst To Best

21-18. LEGO Super Hero Releases

It's pretty hard to separate this year's raft of LEGO tie-in releases, which number four in an increasingly stretched market that looks like little more than a bit of a money spinner for Warner Bros.

This year saw the releases of LEGO DC Super Hero Girls: Super-Villain High, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Black Panther: Trouble In Wakanda - none of which particularly stand out from one another.

The animation is what you'd expect from kids TV shows and it all seems a little like an exercise in releasing two major brand licenses at once and hoping younger audiences will be enticed enough to buy. They're not exactly must-see, though they're entirely harmless. Just don't expect the same sort of thing as The LEGO Batman Movie.

17. DC Super Hero Girls: Legends Of Atlantis

It's just as difficult to be particularly harsh on any release like this as it is to be massively positive. It's plainly obvious that they're not really for the same audience who went out to the cinema to see Deadpool 2 or Infinity War, but they serve a purpose to younger audiences.

And in that respect, Legends Of Atlantis is fine. It's smart enough to have a bit of a message in there about applied intellect, but the writing and the action leave a fair bit to be desired. it's just harmless TV watching, essentially.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
