Nominations: 1 - Best Original Song ("Stand Up for Something)

Though this biopic of the United States' first-ever black Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, doesn't live up to its major awards potential, it is a rock solid biographical legal drama, propelled by yet another chameleonic performance from Black Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman.

It offers up few surprises and you can certainly argue that there's far too much focus placed on Josh Gad's colleague Sam Friedman - likely a cynical studio decision if there ever was one - but the film's heart is mostly in the right place, and it tells an important story even if in ultimately uninspired fashion.

Boseman, as usual, absolutely kills it, and with a stronger film perhaps he would've been in awards discussions himself.
