How do you follow the highest grossing movie in the history of cinema? Just three months removed from the release of Avengers: Endgame, Jon Watts' sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming came out, and had a big task ahead of it. Pick audiences back up after the Russo brothers' devastating masterpiece, close out Phase Three and the Infinity Saga, and continue the story of Peter Parker while also showing the wider effects of 'the blip'.

So, no pressure then. Incredibly, Far From Home managed to achieve everything it set out to do, while serving as an excellent movie in its own right as well as part of the MCU.

Solidifying the franchise's reputation as one of the funniest under the Marvel Studios umbrella, Tom Holland was as charming and wonderfully goofy as ever, opposite Jake Gyllenhall's charismatic Mysterio. Similarly to Homecoming, Far From Home leaned heavily on the impact of Iron Man, but this allowed for some truly emotional moments, not least Happy seeing Tony reflected in Peter as he developed his suit to the musical stylings of AC/DC.

After this it is no surprise that fans were so devestated at the news of Spider-Man's MCU exit, and so overjoyed that he would actually be returning to complete the trilogy.
