Why The Actor Needed It: Reeves is a bit of enigma in Hollywood; a likeable down-to-earth fellow that keeps to himself. He started off as goofy surfer dude/teenage heartthrob, yet has thrown himself into the action arena on three major occasions (Point Break, Speed and The Matrix) but weirdly enough the connotation never stuck.

Post the 90s, the years hadn't been kind to Reeves and his role choices. Also, as he grew older, the female fanfare could no longer be his go-to-crutch. So, he would need to fully reinvent himself as the no-contest badass on the action film scene, of course.

Film In Question: Directors Matrix stunt maestros, David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, were up to the task and custom built John Wick around Reeves. In it, the actor plays, you guessed it, an ex-assassin that's gone good. Bad guys hurt his loved ones and...they don't live long enough to regret it.

Did It Work?: No doubt. Wick has just released its third instalment which has outgrossed the first two. The series is an action phenomenon and has put Reeves back to the A-list. Seeing him take out an entire club of Russian mobsters has also made him a permanent action hall-of-famer.

Time to time get him and Neeson to team up as a mismatched duo of cops already!
