Every Actor Who Copied Liam Neeson's Taken Comeback - Ranked
12. John Travolta - From Paris With Love
Why The Actor Needed It: Fallen 70s star Travolta, had one of the most epic come-backs of all time when he was cast in Pulp Fiction. The actor eventually squandered his resurgence with a series of bad choices (Battlefield Earth) and passionless money jobs (everything post-2000).
By the time the late noughties had hit, he was back in career graveyard territory.
Film In Question: Luc Besson, who had come off writing and producing Taken, was up to the task of refreshing Travolta's career in a similar fashion to Neeson. He concocted this movie and even brought Taken director Pierre Morel back onboard.
The project was less brutal revenge thriller and more violent and funny refresh of the 'buddy movie' formula, with Travolta playing the wild-card spy whos teamed with Johnathan Rhys-Meyers straight-laced embassy worker.
Did It Work?: Despite resulting in an enjoyable action flick with some well-executed shoot-outs, it was all for nought.
Travolta goes for broke with a drastic physical transformation, plus he appears to be having a blast in the role - but his coolness factor had withered, with him coming across more like someone's awkward uncle who trying to dress and talk like he was still down with the kids, instead of a real deal action hero.
