Every Actor Who Copied Liam Neeson's Taken Comeback - Ranked
11. Kevin Costner - 3 Days To Kill
Why The Actor Needed A 'Neeson': From the late 80s to early 90s you just could not put Costner down. He impressively swayed from romantic lead to action hero to Oscar-winning dramatic work (also as director) without breaking a sweat.
By the mid-90s though he had gained an unfavourable rep and a series of flops followed soon after. Despite some overlooked efforts that should've rejuvenated his career (Mr Brooks, Open Range), a return back to the A-list kept eluding him.
Film In Question: Once again, Luc Besson (as writer and producer) was up to the task to sprinkle some magic dust on a waning career with this Costner come-back vehicle. Now, it was a blatant comedy spin on the Taken-formula with Costner as a gruff CIA badass who is stuck babysitting his estranged daughter whilst also tracking down an international super-villain.
Did It Work?: It was enjoyable to see Costner do an aged spin on his hero persona, unfortunately, the rest of the film was just sub-par. The comedy didn't work, the action was erratic and the story was pedestrian. It didn't do Neeson business in the end.
