Every Adam Sandler Movie Ranked Worst To Best
22. Mr. Deeds (2002)
This remake-of-a-remake finds Sandler playing second fiddle to Winona Ryder, who's given more to work with whilst the funnyman goes for wholesome friendliness as a man who's inherited a billion-dollar fortune from his late uncle.
Much more laidback than usual, Mr Deeds has been criticised for it being too stale considering its cast (which also includes Jared Harris and Steve Buscemi), but that's not entirely fair. Sure, Sandler isn't going crazy, but his heart is as ever on his sleeve, and the lack of childish jokes (as a whole) works in its favour.
Schmaltzy and kind-hearted, it does lose some steam as it wears on, but Mr Deeds is a perfectly lovely summary of what makes Sandler tick.
