This glorious and underseen cult gem finds Sandler working beside Brendan Fraser and Steve Buscemi as a desperate punk band who hold a radio station hostage.

Simple and self-aware, Airheads makes perfect use of its stars, allowing Sandler to simmer in the background and steal the show as it progresses, whilst Fraser and Buscemi swing for the fences as his odd and brilliantly deadpan bandmates.

There's admittedly no indication of where Sandler would end up in the coming years, but even here, in one of his smallest, earliest roles, he seems totally at ease and raring to go. It's hard not to enjoy such a mismatched trio of actors in action.
