Sebastian Stan's career in the MCU still feels like one that's been untapped. Much like Anthony Mackie's Falcon, the character of Bucky Barnes was second fiddle to Captain America since the very beginning. Now that Falcon and Winter Soldier have their own show coming out soon, it'll be interesting to see how they fair as leads.
Especially Sebastian Stan, who has been underutilized as the Winter Soldier for some time. Alongside Tom Holland this year, we got to see Stan play a reprehensible character in The Devil All The Time, but (most certainly) a worse character, and better performance, came out of 2018's Tonya Harding biopic, as Harding's husband Jeff Gillooly.
Immediately, we hate this guy. He's an infectious, toxic human being who only serves to drag vulnerable people down to his level. I can't stress enough how disgusting Sebastian Stan is in the film, and yet, he's probably one of the most engaging people on the screen.
Yes, the movie belongs to Margot Robbie. But around her is a supporting cast of vile characters, reinforcing the notion that what you're watching is a film built around amoral beings. And Sebastian Stan nails it all the way.
