Every Avenger's Best Performance OUTSIDE The MCU
8. Mark Ruffalo - Spotlight
With no disrespect to Edward Norton- let's just take a moment and appreciate the re-casting of the Bruce Banner character, and bringing Mark Ruffalo into the fold as The Incredible Hulk. Everything from his mannerisms, facial twitches and even his tone of voice carry with it a very passive character, and Mark sells every line he gets as the secretly smartest and toughest guy in the room.
And outside the MCU, he has won our hearts and minds with his subtle and relatable performances.
Pointing out Mark Ruffalo's best roles is a really rough one, because he has killed it for so many years in a variety of characters. But I want to say that his portrayal of real-life reporter Michael Rezendes in the Best Picture winner Spotlight is ultimately his best performance.
As Michael, Ruffalo plays the heart of the Spotlight investigating team. His quiet demeanour throughout, pressurises as the conspiracy behind the Catholic church unfolds, and in a room filled with logical thinking and professional journalists, we really see Michael Rezendes' anger and frustration take over him.
His energy on screen is a powerhouse, and when an actor shares a screen with Michael Keeton, John Slattery or Stanley Tucci, that's really saying something.
