Every Batman Movie Opening Scene Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may have been a crushing disappointment overall, but it at least got off to a relatively compelling start.

The opening sequence is typically maximalist in style and dramatic in tone for director Zack Snyder, juxtaposing a young Bruce Wayne attending his parents' funeral and falling into a bat-filled cave with the gorgeous, slow-motion murder of his parents (cannily played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan).

This immediately dovetails into a spectacular sequence depicting Man of Steel's Metropolis battle between Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod (Michael Shannon) from Bruce's (Ben Affleck) perspective, giving us our first glimpse of an heroic Bruce rushing into the carnage to save lives.

It certainly establishes why Bruce might have a bone to pick with Superman and other Metahumans, but sadly isn't something the rest of the movie follows up in compelling or even particularly coherent fashion. A promising beginning, though.
