Every Batman Movie Ranked Worst To Best
9. Batman: The Movie (1966)
Yes, there is renewed interest in the 1966 Batman series that has reclassified it as a misunderstood work of genius (nobody should go that far, but it is good), but the movie that kicked it off absolutely is not among the better examples of Batman's movies.
It's still camp, it's still way too humorous and it fundamentally misunderstands the innate darkness of the character, but when you appreciate that it's fundamentally a comedy film primarily, you can forgive a lot of the iffier elements. Now, it stands as a curious museum exhibit to a poor period overall in Batman history, when the character was forced through an unpopular colourful filter.
Putting the genetic problems aside, the performances are actually great - especially Burt Ward's Robin, which goes over-looked most of the time - and there's more than enough charm to carry through the short run-time.
