Every Best Picture Oscar Winner Ranked Worst To Best

89. Around The World In 80 Days (1956)

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
United Artists

In many ways the most overstuffed Best Picture winner, Around the World in 80 Days certainly holds nothing back in terms of scope, but its large set pieces - including a bullfighting scene with 10,000 extras - can’t redeem the rest of the film’s shoddy storytelling or heavy-handed thrills.

It also doesn’t help that it beat classics such as Giant and The Ten Commandments, two movies that have aged far better. You can admire the intentions here, but not the finished product.
