Every Cillian Murphy Movie Ranked Worst To Best

29. Aloft (2014)

Cillian Murphy Inception
Universal Pictures

For all its flaws, Aloft certainly has some enticing ideas regarding faith and memory. Unfortunately, these themes are horribly squandered by awful plot twists, disingenuous characters, and forced sentimentality, all of which leaves stars Jennifer Connolly and Cillian Murphy with nowhere to go.

As a man torn between the life he's built and a chance to reconcile his tragic past by reconnecting with the mother who abandoned him, Murphy finds depth in a script that constantly trips itself up with bloated subplots, but in the end even he becomes too tangled to escape the ponderous nature of it all.

Proof Murphy always tries, Aloft is still too morbid and wonky for him to save.
