Every Daniel Day Lewis Movie Performance Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Lincoln (2012)
Daniel Day-Lewis embodies the spirit of Abraham Lincoln arguably better than any actor has ever embodied a real-life figure on screen, scooping his third Best Actor Oscar in the bargain.
Capturing the President's statuesque dignity and also his aching humanism, Day-Lewis steamrolled his way to his third Oscar win in a film that, while a little dry, nevertheless resulted in one of Steven Spielberg's more restrained directorial efforts.
The performance is unquestionably superior to the film as a whole, but his mesmerising work absolutely drags it up several notches too, not that there wasn't fine work here from Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field and pretty much the entire ensemble.
