Every Daniel Day Lewis Movie Performance Ranked From Worst To Best
15. The Ballad Of Jack & Rose (2005)
It says a lot about this movie that it's written and directed by the actor's wife, Rebecca Miller, which is presumably the only reason he took it on.
This is probably one of DDL's least-interesting performances, which is a shame considering that there was a lot of potential here for a provocative, taboo-busting drama about a Scottish farmer and his daughter (Camilla Belle) who reside in isolation on a former commune.
On the plus side, you do get to see DDL beating the snot out of Paul Dano a few years before he'd annihilate him in There Will Be Blood, so that's fun, but overall it feels too spare and underwritten to really make much of an impact.
If you're craving a truly low-key DDL performance, though, it might do the job.
