Every Daniel Day Lewis Movie Performance Ranked From Worst To Best
14. Eversmile, New Jersey (1989)
Don't feel bad if you've neither seen nor heard of this dramedy which sees the acting vet play a traveling dentist who wants to bring his craft to the land of Patagonia.
It's probably fair to say that DDL is guilty of overacting here, but considering the movie's surrealist, off-kilter overtones, it's actually very much welcome and only makes the film more entertaining.
It's ultimately pretty much nonsense, but DDL is clearly having a blast, and if you can't laugh at his delivery of the line, "The world is collapsing outside and I have an erection", then there's probably something wrong with you.
Not a highlight of his filmography by any means, but delightfully weird to a point.
