Geoff Johns might have stepped down from his overseeing role with DC Entertainment, but he's still involved in the DCEU and is currently writing and producing the Green Lantern Corps movie.

So far, we know that both Hal Jordan and John Stewart will be involved, and Johns has now hinted that the film will be based on his own Green Lantern Corps comic, which would obviously make sense. That would suggest we WILL get to see Jordan training his new younger apprentice in a sort of Top Gun dynamic.

Will It Happen?

Definitely. He might be the butt of the joke for Deadpool, but Green Lantern has lots of fans and huge potential in the right hands. And if it was marketed properly, 'Pool and Ryan Reynolds' gags wouldn't have to hurt too much. Self0-awareness goes a long way after all.
