As well as hiring Cathy Yan, the Birds Of Prey movie led by Margot Robbie now has something of a description thanks to Robbie's conversation recently with Collider:

“I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it.”

So that would seemingly kill the rumours that there's a stand-alone Harley movie out there too.

Will It Happen?

Absolutely. And it's a good thing for diversity that it is, given that it will be the first superhero movie directed by an Asian female film-maker - not to mention it being written by a woman too. The DCEU needs better female presence, after all.
