Every DC Movie That's Just Been Delayed

6. The Suicide Squad (August 6 2021)

The one movie that looks more likely than any in the DCEU to maintain its current scheduled release date is James Gunn’s semi reboot, semi sequel, The Suicide Squad. Filming was wrapped in February shortly before the forced hibernations came into place, which will no doubt have been a huge relief for all involved. While there is always the prospect of reshoots, the fact that Gunn has finished the principle photography holds this film in good stead.

The planned August 6 2021 release date looks reasonably secure thanks to the completed filming, although any poor test screenings could potentially throw these dates out. If there is a need for a secondary allotment of filming, it could prove a further spanner in the works for the planned Guardians of the Galaxy sequel which Gunn will also helm.

It will be interesting to see if WB follows the same marketing strategy as it did for the first Suicide Squad, with the first trailer being released over a year in advance. That trailer was released at the 2015 Comic-Con which will not be happening this year, so we will have to wait and see if we get some promotional material all the same.

One can only hope that Warner Bros. does the right thing and gives us something to smile about with a teaser trailer at least.
