Every Denzel Washington Movie Ranked Worst To Best
38. For Queen And Country (1988)
Working as a blunt and hard-hitting critique of Thatcherism, For Queen and Country follows Washington's British officer Reuben as he returns to the UK after fighting in the Falklands, and finds he's not treated as a war hero, but a Black man.
With a pitch perfect accent, Washington's performance here is the best part of the movie, effortlessly switching between violent, raging, tragic, and conflicted.
The rest of the film doesn't work as well as it should - its heavy-handed themes are jarring at times - but Washington shines enough to overcome its issues.
