Every Final Destination Movie Ranked Worst To Best

3. Final Destination 5 (2011)

Perhaps the most surprising addition to the franchise, Final Destination 5 was a risky move, especially given the failure of The Final Destination before it.

But instead of another cash-grab re-tread of the same old themes, this horror sequel really understood what made the first film so damn enjoyable. Take the opening disaster, where a bridge collapses and kills everyone driving on it except for our new protagonists. It makes for a thrilling and shocking sequence, aided by the tease that it's going to be yet another car accident.

Also, the characters are the strongest in the franchise since the 2000 original, with each actor bringing a lot to their respective roles and the writing doing a lot to keep them all engaging.

Then, of course, there's the deaths, of which the meticulously planned and deeply disturbing gymnastics slip-up is arguably the best of the series. It also ends with a killer twist, revealing that the whole film was actually a prequel to the original and the survivors of the film are set to die in the franchise's first disaster.

There's a brief murder plot in the middle that lets it down, but all told Final Destination 5 is simply phenomenal.
