Every Final Destination Movie Ranked
5. Final Destination 2
Many will be confused to see Final Destination 2 down so low but yes, out of the five good Final Destination movies, it's arguably the worst. Ironically enough, it does open with that scene, the genuine masterpiece of a road pile-up that still has everyone scared to drive behind a log truck - this is arguably the best sequence in Final Destination history. But that's just the opening, what about the rest of the movie?
Well, the rest of the movie is still good. It expands the lore like a sequel should and even aside from the legendary opening, it's filled to the brim with outstanding, ferociously brutal death scenes that'll rattle everyone up. A particularly refreshing thing about this instalment is that, despite all of the bloodshed, it does actually have a happy ending, and the last two survivors are allowed to cheat Death successfully.
Unfortunately, there are some glaring issues with number two. It does feel a bit rushed pacing-wise and the characters are pretty weak. Fine, this isn't a franchise celebrated for character development, but while the other good instalments have an entertaining round-up of characters with clearly-distinguished personalities, the survivors of the highway pile-up range from forgettable to downright irritating. Additionally, Kimberly Corman (a wooden A.J. Cook) is an annoying lead, and both of the first film's survivors are done dirty.
So, it's not a great follow-up to a horror classic but it is a good one and it certainly looks rather golden compared to many horror sequels.
